**We have been made aware of an issue regarding assigned learning in the learning hub, this has also impacted on manager details, however managers can still log supervision and appraisals in the usual way using the Line Management & supervision tab. In April 2025, the Supreme Court clarified that the terms ‘man’, ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological man, biological woman and biological sex. 

At GMMH, we are committed to delivering our vision of “Great places for care and great places to work” which includes ensuring that the dignity and rights of all our service users, carers and staff are upheld and respected, and that we cultivate an inclusive culture where people belong and want to stay.

We recognise that the Supreme Court's clarification is unwelcome and distressing to some of our service users and colleagues, whilst being a welcome and reassuring clarification for others. We will keep people updated about further guidance in due course.

As a result, we are actively undertaking an audit and review of our training, policies, procedures and processes in order to reflect this clarification in the law. Please note that these definitions supersede information you may read in some of the existing courses still available.
